You already have many of the answers to this question. What specific products are you using, and what processes are required? Our Blog page contains several blog posts that discuss these considerations in detail.
If you're using a water bath canning method at home, a two-piece lid is the only approved closure. However, you can test a high-heat continuous-thread (CT) lid, as it reduces the risk of over-tightening and can endure the higher temperatures of a boiling water bath (212°F). Standard one-piece CT lids are designed for hot-fill applications with temperatures around 180°F. Lug or twist-off closures are generally intended for commercial machine capping, although many of our customers successfully apply them by hand.
We strongly advise testing your packaging choices for compatibility with each product and processing method before placing large orders.
